History of Photography
The word "photography" is a mixture of two Latin words. "Foto" meaning light and "grafis" which means control. The first successful photograph was produced by Niepce in 1826. Louis Daguerre was an important figure for photography. He created the first successful photographic process called the Daguerreotype. The Daguerreotype was soon replaced with the Colldion process. The new process was able to record microscopically fine details, was inexpensive and took much less time to develop photos. The first film roll that was practical was introduced in the 1880's by George Eastman. He also introduced flexible transparent film. These were vital to the development of motion picture industry.
